It seems every pond/lake has a stupidly steep hill next to it.Īll in all, I'd say this new RNG is a nig step back in terms of enjoyability and interest. All you find is the occassionaly little lakes, which were apparently made by some giant scooping a hole in the ground and dumping the fill right next to them. Is this normal Or could it be that the server isnt working properly Any tips regarding hosting dedicated in A17 are welcome. Servers with size 4096 would boot up fast, but 8192 seems to take forever. I started to host new server with size 8192 for a group of friends. Desrt and snow biomes are hugely useful for water and aloe early on, but they tend to be only way off on the edges of the map, and you can't easily travel there without a vehicle.Īnd water is too rare, it can be a killer in the early game. I'm having doubts whether my dedicated server is booting up properly. The new RNG worlds may be more realistic, but they are boring!!! Miles of undifferentiated forest with frequent burnt and rare waste patches. You can choose map size when generating new world, there are 4k and 8k options. I can't say I was fond of the conical mounds or depressions in hill sides that were done to level the ground in earlier versions, but it beats the heck out of floating and collapsing buildings all over the place.īesides that, while I am generally a fan of realism, it should not come at the expense of gameplay and fun. Is it just me or are the world sizes way too small the largest world option in the client is like 1/3rd the size of what worlds were in A17 with the advanced world gen. a 3-4 deep pad under the large stores would solve it in most cases. If you can't come up with someway of levelling the ground under the buildings, then please add some pads under them so that when they spawn in they aren't floating. 8-10k with a relatively low loot re-spawn timer would probably work ok for 6 people. It's at the point now where I circle well around the big stores to check if they are floating, and try to approach from the back where the loot boxes are found, so that, if by some miracle the physics engine doesn't collapse it first, I can stick a couple of wood frames under the store to support at least part of the back room in the hope of salvaging the loot crates. What would be your recommendations for a vanilla 7 days map size and if you have experience with Darkness Falls i would also be interested to know what size you would recommend for that one. In some cases entire buildings are floating in the air. Mostly it's the big buildings being built on uneven ground that is the problem - the fronts seem to stay up, anchored to the road in front, but the back where the loot generally is found is left hanging and collapses. I'm really bored with it so far.Īgreed, the more than half the big shops - SGM, P&P, Hardware seem to collapse on sight, or when you move into them, which is a huge loss of loot, not to mention chance of dying if you get inside before the physics kicks in to destroy the building. Some collapse when you go near or walk on them, which causes a horrible FPS drop. Towns are laid out the same and in the same area and proximity of other areas. I have experienced longer times with more Hills and Mountains, and less times with more Plains.I've started a few RWG maps and they are all pretty much the same. There is an extremely faint red line at the border of the rad zone. Good rule of thumb, but doesn't help with the rad zones that are generated sometimes in the middle of map. I would guess it varies depending on map size. It seems sometimes it takes a LONG time for this to happen - and other times it is fairly quickly. A good rule of thumb is to stay about 300 meters from the map border. I've forced closed the game once or twice - and it seems to me that the freeze is actually a "thinking freeze" as the game generates highways based on the map criteria you have chosen to use, as well as how detailed of a preview you want to see. It's a game issue - and probably an A21 issue as this has never happened to me BEFORE A21 and my system hasn't changed. So you can post a million pastebin dumps - but if the error is happening broadly across the board as it obviously is - yeah. Enough people getting stuck here at this spot to know it's a game issue. Yeah it seems to be a "game" issue - not an individual computer issue because a lot of people have high(ish) end computers when the 'Planning Highways' freeze happens.
